Feeds (Version 0.4.3)

Feeds 0.4.3 is once again a release without big enhancements on the technical side. Syncing has been improved a little and shouldn’t take longer and longer after using the app for several weeks, but I’m still not happy with the duration of an average synchronization. Unfortunately, I lacked the time (and motivation) to do something about it.

On another note I’m happy to announce the inclusion of four new translations:

Even better, Denis Talala has pimped my pathetic programmer-artish splash screen and enhanced the icon to fit better with the iPhone LookTM. Waiting for the app to start up has never been sweeter :)

By the way, at the time of me writing this, Feeds has just hit 70,000 official downloads!

Love the app - having text based feeds that I can read while I’m not in a wifi zone is perfect.

I’d personally like to see some more options - I’d like to choose which feeds are downloaded (all by default), because again, some feeds have a lot of pics/other files that are only valuable while online.

It might also be nice to have a ‘mark read after x seconds’ option, so that while I’m perusing or if I leave the app it doesn’t automatically mark the post as read - if I want to read it I have to go back and choose the option “hide read” look for the post and then go back and switch this option on again.

I’m not sure, but on some posts it only gives partial text followed by a link to the original post (online) - is this the post or is this some setting that could be changed?

Thanks for your time and this great app!

    Cheers - Drew

    really cool app.

but i found it only syncs 20 feed items every time.(even feed items is 100)
    after reading 20 items,the rest 80 won’t be synced

it really bothers me, i have to miss some feeds everyday.

How much of the session is done over a secure connection: just the authentication, or everything?

  21. JFH on September 24th, 2008 20:44

Is suppose Boris stopped Feeds dev.

    Try http://code.google.com/p/gris/

    For jailbreaked iphones only !

  22. Boris Bluntschli on October 20th, 2008 19:00

@JFH: No, Feeds will not be developed any further. Neither will it be ported to the AppStore. Thanks for the link to gris, it looks very promising. Guess I’ll have to jailbreak my iPod again after all :)

@james: Only authentication is done over https.
